What documents do I need to import goods into Nepal?
Typically: commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading or airway bill, letter of credit or advance-payment documents (BI.BI.NI. Form 4), your firm's PAN/VAT registration and an EXIM code. We review everything before shipment so nothing holds up clearance.
How long does clearance take at Birgunj or ICP?
With complete documents, most shipments clear Birgunj Customs or the ICP Dry Port within 1–3 working days. Air shipments at TIA are often cleared the same or next working day.
How is import duty calculated in Nepal?
Duty is assessed on the CIF value of your goods at the HS-code tariff rate, plus 13% VAT and excise where applicable. We classify your goods correctly and give you a duty estimate before you commit.
Do I need an EXIM code?
Yes — an EXIM code from the Department of Customs is mandatory for commercial imports and exports. If you don't have one yet, we'll guide you through obtaining it.
